SUMMARY:Bird Walk (McCall Field by R.B. Winter)
DESCRIPTION:Meet at the usual location at the north end of the Weis parking lot in Lewisburg at 7:30am. to carpool to the location at McCall Field outside of R.B. Winter. We will arrive around 8am. at the parking lot off of Black Gap Rd. between McCall Dam Rd and McCall Field Trail Rd. We will then walk around the perimeter of an area that was the site of a controlled burn in 2015. This is a good edge area and a good spot for breeding warblers\, vireos\, fly catchers\, and dark eyed juncos. If there is time and interest\, we may also walk down Black Gap Rd. or walk on other nearby trails. \nBe aware that there is lots of tall grass in places and there also likely be lots of bugs. Bug spray and standard tick protection is strongly advised! \n\nIf you are interested in meeting us at the location\, you can find the exact location and coordinates below. \n\n\n \n\n\nPlease note that there is no cell phone reception at or near this location so you will need to use a GPS app with offline maps or print out directions. If driving west from Lewisburg\, you can expect to lose reception shortly past Cowan.\n\n
